Addition to the Family

Greetings,
This is my first blog. I'm not really sure how to do it, but here goes. We are a military family, currently living in Ottawa. It is our first time here, having avoided it for 23 years. We are getting adjusted to the city, enjoying the great shopping available to us and the sport and culture opportunities. As part of our settling in, we are finally ready to add a pet to our family. We have always had a dog and when we were forced to part with our last pet, our son made us promise that our next dog will be a resued dog. And so I have been scouting the humane society websites. Last week, I received a phone call from the Ottawa Humane Society with regard to a young dog they were trying to find a home for. We had left a request with them for a dog and they thought they had one who would be a match. As it turned out, she was more puppy than I had the energy or time to deal with but while there, spotted another dog on the adoption board. An interesting mix of Beagle and Lab. I met here and knew right away she was one that I wanted the rest of the family to meet. And so they did on Saturday. She took to my husband right away, instinctively knowing he was the one she had to convince. she did a good job because we decided she was the one for us. And so now, we get ready to welcome Rhea to our family.
